REVD Concept

A typical REVD solution is transportable, robust, shock resistant and of light weight construction. It incorporates technology such as data, video, VoIP, wireless LAN and office applications and uses satellite communications to communicate back to the base station. REVD is ideally suited for temporary or permanent installations in construction, mining and exploration, Defence, risk management, disaster recovery and emergency services.

The HMO Briefcase is the ideal solution for Emergency Management & Disaster Recovery (EM & DR) or a military forward command post. The HMO Briefcase can support 20 users or more in the field with voice (choose between wired and wireless both analogue and IP handsets), LAN/WLAN connections for computers, video conferencing, video streaming and RoIP (Radio over IP, disparate multi force/agency UHF or VHF radio networks can be integrated in to the HMO’s Cisco IP router ).The system is optimized for size and weight, and contains unique convection air-cooling and internal power distribution allowing for very economical use of space. This extremely compact and highly mobile command post can be established in less than 10 minutes by one person. The solution is so compact and light that operators can easily bring it alone by plane, helicopter or small cross country vehicle. Over short-medium distances the HMO is carried easily.

 

Capability and Security

The HMO Briefcase is designed to seamlessly accommodate and connect to all type of IP based communication equipment, such as laptops, handheld computers, Video Conferencing, VoIP phones, Video Encoders, etc. The unit contains a standard server/PC, Ethernet switch (all Ethernet ports are able to provide power to POE devices), Cisco ISR 2800 Router with call manager express IP PABX and power distribution. Also included are 8 ports for connection of Analogue Voice services, including facsimile. An integrated WLAN access point and RoIP support is optional. Integrated into the case lid is a LCD  monitor, mouse and all external connectors. The HMO Briefcase can easily be configured to use external customer supplied encryption devices to secure the traffic. Several security options are also available such as; integrated VPN module, SW Firewall (protecting the WAN entry point into the network), IPS (Inline Intrusion Prevention, an in-line, deep-packet-inspection-based solution to effectively mitigate network attacks) and NAC (Network Control And Containment, stems the spread of viruses and worms in the network by providing access only to trusted devices that match established access and security policies.

 

The HMO Briefcase has several wireless communication options for rapidly establish computer and radio networks when first responders or war fighters move into areas where there is no communications networks available. With an integrated Wi-Fi access point, the HMO Briefcase can act as base station for a tactical WLAN network providing wireless connectivity for various computing devices such as laptop computers, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), digital camera, wireless VoIP phones, etc. The reach of the WLAN can easily be extended with repeater stations. Push-to-Talk UHF and VHF radios are widely used by governmental organizations and UHF and VHF radio networks can be integrated in to the HMO Briefcase through the RoIP (Radio over IP) support. Offering a true ‘any voice to any voice’ capability, the user can communicate from any of analogue or VoIP phone to any of the Push-to-Talk handsets connected to the network. Having an IP-based infrastructure the HMO Briefcase is future proof, any type of IP based radio device can be connected, for example a WiMAX access point.
