 SWE-DISH Satellite Systems has developed a new class of groundbreaking small satellite terminals - the Suitcases. It's a new class of small (suitcase size), hand portable, highly mobile and fully automated satellite terminals. They are used by numerous leading broadcasters, as well as several defence organizations such as the US Special Operations Command.

The Suitcase has matured into a range of three different terminals to meet different needs:

Product Description

The Highly Mobile Office, HMO, Briefcase is an extremely lightweight and portable communications centre for voice, video and data, housed in a rugged, waterproof case. The system contains unique convection air-cooling and internal power distribution allowing for very economical use of space. The HMO briefcase is designed to connect to an IP or Serial WAN connection, and act as a control centre for all remote communications and network connectivity requirements (WAN, Voice, Internet and Broadcast Networks).

 

The Briefcase HMO is designed for scalable user-groups . The HMO Briefcase contains a PC/Server, a state-of-the-art modular router and power supply. Integrated into the case lid is a LCD monitor and a keyboard, trackball and devices connections are presented on the case body. This device is capable of running several concurrent LAN functions including Videoconference, telephony, User Authentication (plug external devices into the network ports), web browsing, email, and office applications. The HMO Briefcase can also be fitted with a number of options including VPN acceleration with encryption, WLAN access point, a low bit-rate Store an a low bit-rate Store and Forward solution for sending video clips and an MPEG-2 encoder. EASE OF USE Once a WAN connection is established (using SATCOM or other WAN service), the HMO Briefcase’s full capability is realised within a matter of minutes.

 

The HMO Briefcase fully configured weight is 14 kg (excluding external hardware e.g. telephones or client PCs). At this weight, it is possible to send the system as commercial airline baggage or readily transport or carry for rapid deployments.

 

When using the portable communication centre, together with the SWE-DISH Satellite equipment, up to 50 users can be connected for web browsing, email, office applications, IP and analogue telephone in the field. Modular expansion will allow for further users.
